We are thrilled to announce that our First Lego League (FLL) robotics team has achieved remarkable success at their recent regional competition! Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, they secured one of the eleven golden tickets to advance to the state competition this March in West Palm Beach. Their standout performance placed them in the top 2 teams in their judging lanes for both robot design and project presentation.
This achievement is a testament to the purpose of the FIRST Tech Challenge: to inspire young minds through the fun and excitement of solving complex problems in a supportive team environment. The mission of FIRST—to provide life-changing robotics programs that give young people the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to build a better world—is truly embodied by our team's accomplishments.
But that's not all—our Science Olympiad team members also shone brightly at their regional competition this weekend, clinching third place in both the Air Trajectory and Tower events. This success reflects Science Olympiad's commitment to developing hands-on STEM education, fostering an environment where students can engage in teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration.
These achievements highlight the incredible talent and hard work of our students at Discovery Academy of Science. We are immensely proud of their dedication and are excited to support them as they continue to explore and excel in STEM fields. Let's cheer on our FLL team as they prepare for the state competition and beyond!
Congratulations to all our students, coaches, and everyone involved in nurturing these young scientists and engineers. Together, we are not just participating in competitions; we are preparing our students to be the innovators and problem solvers of tomorrow.
We take great pride in our clubs at DAS! We have a variety of clubs that teachers host after school based on their own interests and passions. At our South Campus, Ms. Cott's performance club held their Winter Performance. Everyone did such a wonderful job!
