Families Make Our Community Stronger
We believe students benefit when families and schools work together.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in school events, volunteer opportunities, classroom activities, and other programs throughout the year. Depending on the activity, volunteer screening requirements may apply. The North site currently distinguishes between Level 1 and Level 2 volunteer approval based on the type of activity.

Experiences That Make Learning Memorable
School life at DAS includes opportunities for students to learn, explore, and connect outside traditional classroom instruction.
Field trips, guest speakers, school celebrations, academic competitions, clubs, STEM activities, and community events help students discover new interests and apply what they learn in meaningful ways. Existing DAS material specifically highlights field trips, school events, the Great American Teach-In, and Read Across America as examples of experiential learning.
