Robotics & Enrichment at Discovery Academy of Science

Build. Create. Compete. Discover.

Robotics and STEM enrichment give students opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it through hands-on challenges, teamwork, design, and competition.

At Discovery Academy of Science, students can explore robotics, coding, engineering, science, and other enrichment opportunities that encourage creativity, persistence, problem solving, and collaboration.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Where Ideas Become Experiences

Enrichment at DAS is designed to give students opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, and challenge themselves in ways that extend beyond traditional classroom instruction.

Through robotics, coding, engineering challenges, competitions, and collaborative projects, students learn how to plan, test, improve, communicate, and work as part of a team.

What Students Develop

Creativity

Students develop original ideas and explore different ways to solve a challenge.

Problem Solving

Students learn to break down complex problems, test solutions, and adapt when something doesn’t work.

Teamwork

Collaborative projects help students communicate, share responsibilities, and work toward a common goal.

Persistence

Students learn that setbacks are part of the process and that improvement often comes through repeated testing and refinement.

Technical Skills

Robotics, coding, engineering, and science activities introduce students to tools and concepts used throughout STEM fields.

Confidence

Students build confidence by presenting ideas, competing, solving problems, and seeing their work succeed.

Robotics & STEM Programs

FIRST LEGO League

Students combine LEGO robotics, coding, research, and teamwork to solve challenges and compete with other teams.

VEX Robotics

Students design, build, program, and refine robots while developing engineering and problem-solving skills.

SeaPerch

Students explore underwater robotics and engineering through the design, construction, and operation of remotely operated vehicles.

Science Olympiad

Students apply science knowledge through team-based events covering areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and earth science.

From Design to Competition

Engineering in Action

Students learn that successful designs rarely happen on the first attempt. Robotics and engineering challenges encourage students to develop an idea, build a solution, test it, identify problems, make improvements, and try again.

That iterative process helps students become more confident, flexible, and persistent problem solvers.

Competition & Achievement

Putting Skills to the Test

DAS students have participated in robotics, engineering, and science competitions that allow them to apply their skills in challenging and collaborative environments. Programs have included FIRST LEGO League, VEX Robotics, SeaPerch, and Science Olympiad.

Competitions give students the opportunity to represent their school, learn from other teams, and experience the excitement of turning preparation and practice into real-world performance.

Opportunities for Every Learner

Not every student has to be an experienced coder or engineer to participate.

Robotics and enrichment programs are designed to give students opportunities to discover new interests, learn new skills, and contribute to a team in different ways. Depending on the program, students may work in design, coding, construction, research, presentation, documentation, or strategy.
