At Discovery Academy of Science, we believe positive behavior should be taught, encouraged, and recognized.
Our PBIS approach helps create a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment by reinforcing responsible choices, recognizing students who go above and beyond, and encouraging every student to contribute positively to the school community.
What PBIS Looks Like at DAS
Positive Behavior Matters
Students are expected to follow school rules and demonstrate appropriate behavior each day. PBIS goes a step further by recognizing students who demonstrate exceptional responsibility, kindness, effort, leadership, and other positive behaviors.
Faculty and staff can recognize students through rewards such as Tiger Bucks, “Gotcha” slips, and commendations through DAS Connect.

Rewards & Recognition
Celebrating Positive Choices
Students who demonstrate behavior above and beyond normal expectations may earn Tiger Bucks, “Gotcha” slips, or digital commendations.
Tiger Bucks can be accumulated and used for school incentives or rewards, including items available through the DAS School Store. These rewards are designed to reinforce responsible decision-making and encourage students to continue making positive contributions to their school community.

Student of the Month
Recognizing Students Who Go Above & Beyond
Each month, teachers may nominate students who consistently demonstrate exceptional behavior and positive contributions to the school community.
Selected students receive Student of the Month recognition as a way to celebrate the choices, effort, and character that help make DAS a positive place to learn.

Why Positive Recognition Matters
A positive school culture supports both academic and social-emotional growth.
By recognizing students for responsible choices, kindness, leadership, and perseverance, PBIS helps students understand that their actions matter. The goal is not simply to reward good behavior, but to build habits that help students become responsible members of their school and community.
